U12s at Home to Poynton A

After 1 week without a game or training, were we going to be up for a good game?  Well for 30 minutes Stockport turned up, and for the other 30 we can blame on lethargy!  As all the great football coaches say "Its a game of Two Halves" - Well for our game "Its a game of four quarters" actually.  In a game where we won our fair share of Face Offs, and had reasonable possession, we simply did nothing with the ball for the first two quarters.  Missing a few of our early chances, Poynton capitalising on our mistakes, by the end of Q1 we were down 1-4, and Q2 didn't fair much better with Poynton having a little more of the possession making 3 unanswered goals.  So there we are, 1-7 down at half time, we needed to pull our socks up and try and rescue a little pride.  Getting into our stride, we managed to hold Q3 at 2-2, before getting a 3-1 quarter in Q4.  Difficult to see what went wrong, it just didn't happen for us today.  Goals from Luke (3), Cameron (2) and Hugo, and 12 saves from the keeper, made the 2nd half a more enjoyable experience.  A rest week this week, then a tough game against Mellor before Christmas.
First face, and we gain possession

U12s V Poynton B

In this years Onundaga Cup, our first round game drew us up against Poynton B for the first time this year.  Not knowing what to expect, the lads were extremely focused and ready for the task ahead.  Unfortunately, Poynton could only muster 9 players and we played the game as a 9 a-side affair.  So we lined up, on a bitterly cold day, hoping to play well and proceed to the next round.  The lads didn't disappoint, racing to a Q1 lead of 6-0, Q2 4-0, Q3 2-0, Q4 3-0 leaving us as the 15-0 victors.  During the game we managed 9 different scorers, changed our keepers around, and limited Poynton B to just 3 shots all game.  Todays scorers were Jack, Hugo, Ashley, Aaron, Rhys (2), William, Cameron (2), Luke (4), Joseph B (2).  I am sure there will be tougher challenges ahead, if we have aspirations of reaching those finals in Rochdale.
On a day as cold as today, our keepers weren't going to stay in the crease

Good pressure, from our two, when their keeper came out of his crease

Bit of juggling from Ben

Rhys bringing it from round the back

Will winning at Face

Luke picking the right pass

Good feet from Hugo

Just wide from young Ben

Goal from William

Nice tight marking from Rhys - Now that's pressure

Sticks up from the big men

Cameron making a great pass

TWO HANDS - The coach will be screaming

Wil and Hugo watching the ground ball

More ground ball action

Jacob bringing it round on goal

This weeks Caption Competition?    As Cameron screamed..................... too Luke?

Not often you see two keepers battling it out for the same ball

U12s at Home 'V' Liverpool

May I firstly thank, and congratulate Liverpool Lacrosse for creating an U12s team and for travelling down the M62 every other week, and I hope they stick at it and it is a success for the growth of this great game.  However, back to the game, which was a comfortable victory for the boys in blue who raced to a 5-0 lead at the end of Q1, with Liverpool getting the first goal of Q2 before 5 more unanswered goals 5-1 (Q2), with 3 each in the last two quarters leaving us with a 16-1 victory.  Praise today goes to all the senior players, who tried their best to involve the new players and build confidence in their teammates, which can only be a good thing.  Particularly pleased for Ben, and Jacob (and their parents - who really enjoyed it) on their first goals for Stockport.  I am sure it wont be your last.  A staggering 8 different scorers today, with thanks to Luke for sharing the goal minding duties.  Scorers today Ben, jack, Hugo (4), Aaron, Rhys (2), William (2), Cameron (4) and Jacob.
Will receiving some good pressure!

Jack about to score

Dylan retaining possession

Ashley moving it out wide
