U12s at Home to Poynton

As I write my last post of 2016, it is fair to say its been a pretty good year, we win a few, we lose a few but overall we play the game in the right spirit and always try to do the best for each other.  So it gives me great pleasure to report on a final victory of 2016, of 18-9.  Played in foggy conditions, we found ourselves 1-2 down, before we started to play to our potential.  With a 6-2 Q1, a 3-2 Q2, Q3 came in at 5-2 and a final quarter 4-3 in our favour we clearly did very well.  However, our finishing wasn't as crisp as we would like, only managing to place 18 of our 40 shots between the pipes, which will need to be improved if we are going to make 2017 a better year.  Managing to get 14 players to be part of the squad is better than it has been for a few weeks, providing us with 6 different scorers of Will B, Rhys (3), Ben, William (2), Hugo (4), and Cameron with 7, and 9 of the goals being assisted, it shows how well we move the ball.  Lots of improvements all over the pitch, a more positive keeper (Santa) and lots of game time for all players.  Lets bring on 2017!

U12s Away at Brooklands

In our first visit to Brooklands this year, we were treated to some excellent interplay from the boys from Stockport.  As the saying goes, 'You can only beat whats in front of you', and the coaches took the opportunity to build confidence.  As the game started we played Q1 as an 8-a-side game, but Brooklands did manage to get 10 for Q2, Q3 and Q4 to make it a 10-a-side game there on.  Right from the first goal, the players were asked to concentrate on involving all players, and looking for Assists where possible. With ever improving performances from Ben H, Indra and Will B there were certainly positives to take from this encounter.  Q1 0-9, Q2 1-4, Q3 0-6 and Q4 4-2, finishing the game 5-21 the victors, with 9 different scorers today, Goals from Will B (2), Jacob B, Rhys (3), Ben (4), Will H, Jay (2), Indra, Hugo (3), and Cameron (4), and 11 of the goals all assisted (9 from Cameron).  Although our skills and experience showed throughout this encounter, it was played in the right spirit.
Lots of game time for our younger players

U12s Away at Boardman & Eccles

It is always a pleasure to visit new teams, and new grounds, and compliments to Boardman for working hard and getting an U12s team together for the greater good of the game.  It had been 4 weeks since we last played a competitive game, and it was nice to get back to winning ways.  Both teams managed to produce 10 players.  In a game where Stockport's experience certainly showed, we ran out 0-17 winners, with Q1 0-7, Q2 0-6, Q3 0-3, and a final quarter of Q4 0-1.  Rhys deadly in front of goal, ably assisted by the ever improving Ben.  Strong showing the first couple of quarters, lots of changes around the pitch, with the experienced players trying to involve all the newer players.  With limited opportunity for saves, Aaron & Hugo swapped around at half time, so a little thank you to Hugo for allowing Aaron a run out.  7 Different scorers today Rhys (6), Aaron, Ben H (3), William, Jay (2), Hugo, Cameron (3), and 12 goals assisted.
And we're Off
